It’s been over five years since the early chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic forced many of us to pivot our practices overnight. For me, the transition to teletherapy wasn’t just about changing platforms—it was a deep exercise in adaptability, patience, and problem-solving.
I still remember the early days: dropped calls, distracted kids, AAC devices that wouldn’t sync, and the uneasy feeling of staring at a screen instead of sitting with a child face-to-face.
But it taught me that connection doesn’t always require physical presence. With creativity and persistence, I found ways to adapt materials, re-engage clients, and strengthen rapport in new formats. The most unexpected gift? Seeing families step into more active roles as co-therapists—an outcome I now strive to maintain, even in person.
Takeaway: Growth doesn’t always look graceful. But it always leaves a mark.
